Default Trouble Changing lower cv axle, strut shock ball joint

I read many good things on this forum but sadly it was After I watched utube and started in. I struggled for 2 full days to get driver side ball joint separated so I could simply replace shock strut. I did something wrong on reinstall and when first 10 ft of test drive was a sharp curve around garage. Wheel hub jumped up off of ball joint, fell on to tire, then skidded to stop. In the process it destroyed the cv axle.
Fast forward, now all the components are new by demand and all put back together even waxed car as I though I was done. 1st 10ft here come sharp turn on front tire and unbelievably it did repeat. New wheel hub jumped up off off ball joint and car fell for 2nd time wedging itself on bent wheel and damaged parts again. Need some experienced wrenched to offer opinion. Thanks in advance

So, it is rebuilt, repurchased, and appear all good. I am afraid the issue will repeat so to nervous to drive. I have wrenched gor 4o yrs minimum and goid at reading all the manf....preferred installation guide lones and cannot see where I made any errors. But 2wice the joint popped out causin:g damage. ..Has anyone encountered this problem, and why
The bolt thst closes thru the ball joint is badly beat, worn, and flattened threads. Again, why, ? I torqued hard on the ball joint nut. It should have been secure
. Any help will be appreciated. At a bit of a cost compared to getting it right u

I can see you've already found your way to the X-Type forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

WOW!! I would be leery of driving it again too!
I hope you learn where the problem is and get it fixed, so you can drive your car more than a few feet!

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Ok, a bit of update on my 07 xtype. It appears that in spite of good efforts the axle nut was not pulled tightened enough. Overlooked in the hurry to reassemble maybe or not enough leverage on install, at any rate, This was resolved. The bolt that secures the ball joint was badly corroded (still shouldnt have allowed ball joint to pull through). So thought there was no additional damages. With the control arm replaced, the shock strut replaced, and the cv axle new, she is in great shape and in spite of the failures presumed well under garage costs. (A quick aside here, none of the other shocks or struts were a problem. The driver side oddly was so badly seized that extreme beating turned into additional component replacement.)
With everything back in place and cleaned up she drives good but there is a clunk. My first thought was the strut was installed in the wrong position but it is not. It sort of sounds like the shock bottoms out. Metal on metal clunk. sadly, I noticed that the alignment is visibly out of whack so likely when the tire folded in it tweaked it. This may explain the clunking noise over bumps (if it is bent down to the frame). She is in excellent shape, mishaps aside, and worth the time and money where needed.
Will the steering rods need replaced or will an alignment shop be able to adjust is the million dollar question, but the clunk........if this is not from the tie rod (steering arm) then I go back to the shock. Is there other adjustments that could have been made or is the painted pin the only thing as far as placment??
Everything else went so well. It is tragedy this one had to be the bugger. Any advice would be appreciated. I love my car and husband for trying so hard but he may need therapy after this.

You should take this question to X-Type forum for advice from members with the same model.
