Not one of the dealers within a 50 mile radius has any of the o-rings in stock,

My closest dealer told me that they have only ever sold 2 of them in the past.

That looks a sign that they simply do not know or work on the car. If so, a useful way to do no more than buy parts from them.

I assume the dealerships are willing to order a set of the O-rings for you?

Yes, they'll order some in, it's so typical of dealers in the UK now, they hardly stock anything.

It is a bit odd knowing that they've only ever sold 2. Maybe they've been selling people all of their old 'yellow' stock.

Maybe people take their cars to an indy and they get O rings elsewhere than the dealers you tried.

IF you're pulling the intake manifold - we figured out that the lincoln ls intake manifold gaskets work and they are $100 less than the Jaguar ones.

No need to pull the intake manifold unless you're also going to change spark plugs. The "short route" works just fine. I did it that way back in January....

Oh I know.. I just wanted to throw it out there that there's a cheaper source for the gaskets.

For those of you who want a better perspective on what you have to remove, here's the pic of the IMT Valves in the manifold of my X-type, which has the motor mounted transversely. They are easy to get to in the X, but getting to the rear (what would be driver's side) plugs on it is ridiculous.

Where can you purchase the IMT o-ring online? Part no 'CZs 40669' I believe someone reported it being? Or, do you have to purchase from Jaguar/Ford dealership? Thanks.

Get from Jag dealer, should have in stock. About 3 dollars each and green in color.

your welcome, and also don't forget to use some type of lubricant on the rings. I know some might say not necessary or disagree but I have had a pool for the last 15 years and I do all the work on it. A lot of seal rings on everything and I always lubricate them and they seem to hold up much better with no leaks.

Firstly - you can post ----- as you are indeed doing.

Otherwise - welcome. Just give people a chance to read and decide whether to reply.

sneaver, this serves as your one warning about making unnecessary negative remarks about dealer service and prices... read the new member STICKY to get some insight as to why you will not be allowed to do that here - see my signature for a link. Also, while I was in there, i cleaned up some fragmented sentences, crazy spelling errors and punctuation. I assure you, it will help with others choosing to respond to your question.

Sneaver, in many cases the members here helped and I purchased almost all the parts at my local Jag dealer. Frankly the parts guys were fantastic. They would turn their computer screens in my direction and show me every possible thing I might need and how and where to remove it. Then print the stuff out for me. I know I posted a lot of pics on the site in reference to this project and will take a look later today to see if I can help out further. Last couple of months had two deaths in the family so been very trying and just settling back into regular routine. Will look at my stuff and respond back later today.
