2015 Jaguar XF

A lot of the "package" stuff is simply trim and colour items, so that depends on personal taste. That said, the bottom line is how much do you want to spend? Because I like MORE POWER, I would start with at least the Supercharged version. If you can afford the XFR or XFR-S then more power to you.

Tom, unless you are planning on ordering a car, getting one with even the naturally aspirated V8 is going to be a hard find. Most of the cars from what I can tell are coming with either the turboed I4 (240 hp?) or the supercharged V6 (340 HP). Where the naturally aspirated V8 is coming with 385, the supercharged V8 with 470, XFR wtih 510, and the XFR-S with 550 hp. Granted, you are going from the $60K I4 version to just north of $100K for the XFR-S. Now, the XFR and XFR-S do have some interior options that are not available on the lower models, but how much is it worth to you?
The best advice that I can tell you is to get into say a 2013 or 2014 version of each and see if the "joy factor" watches up to what you are willing to spend.
I guess one other question that seems silly to ask, but, what sort of mileage is your "low end"? That may dictate what engines are in/out. For some people it is an important part of the decision. What are the "important things to you"?

I have an '11 SC. It has 470 hp, and a dynamic suspension which I recommend, but I like all the features it has, keyless entry, sunroof, upgraded stereo, leather dash. The nav is not the best but the SC version in '11 was a pretty complete package. Engine size and driving dynamics were my first priority.

I like black best. But the silver/gray loaners I get always seem to draw comments. The red is the wrong shade of red.
Pictures of my black 2013 are here.

Black is impossible to keep clean but looks so good when it is. My last two cars have been black, but honestly I would have bought a white XFR if I had found one at the right price / mileage / condition. British Racing Green is a cool color too and you almost never see it. The black on these cars is beautiful, it has a nice flake to it:

I went from the metallic black supercharged which I loved, to the Italian racing red R-S which is simply amazing, love this shade of red. The black did get dirty quick, especially in the winters. I recently moved to florida so thats not really an issue anymore with the red. Below are the black and the red. If you choose black, like the others said get the metallic, its definitely worth it.

I've had both black and white Jaguars but the best color I've had is Lunar gray. Even filthy it looks clean!! Like vapor gray but I think they may have dropped that color on the XF. I do love a black car but its impossible to keep clean. White always looks like a corporate leased car IMO, unless it's black packed. colors can be trend based so they can be dated down the line, and silver, boring.
So vapor grey, lunar grey, stratus grey, and actually caviar brown are all great colors!! Again IMO.

XF Color
I don't think anyone has mentioned the dark blue exterior color. Although mine is an XJ (2013), my wife and I love the Indigo Metallic w London Tan interior.
I think the XF comes in Dark Sapphire Metallic, not sure what interiors are offered.
But I believe the best would be, as mentioned earlier, to go to a dealer and look at the inventory. You'd be amazed at what you thought you might like that you don't and vice versa.
For example, I'm not partial to the Jaguar "white". As a matter of fact, I'm not crazy about any European vehicles' "white". I'm more into the American approach with the "pearl white", "metallic white", etc.
Go enjoy yourself. See them "in the flesh", so to speak!

My car is Vapour Grey, which is medium metallic grey and I absolutely fell in love with the colour. I think the closest to it today is Lunar Grey. Colour is a very personal choice, but you might want to keep resale value in mind. Red and green are much harder to resell than neutral colours.

They have now started not offering items that were available when I bought my 14' in March. Now is just a Portfolio and Sport package. I went in to configure a new car with the options that are on my present car and you can't do it. I think Jaguar did this to reduce the pricing of the car. As far as color, I have the Ultimate Black Metallic like the above car. It is an awesome color with all the different metal flakes in it.
