re locating sub to parcel shelf
Hi all,
Has anyone had any thoughts on re-locating the factory sub from the spare wheel well???
I'm comtemplating removing the standard sub and either mounting a free air one in the rear parcel shelf or building my own mdf sub box and mounting the standard sub in it.....then mounting this lot under the rear parcel shelf......surely a great solution for more direct bass!!!!!
Thoughts appreciated......

Whatever you do don't use the stock sub. Anything has to be better. You can do what I did and make a new box in the well. If you used a high output 10" and some creativity/fiberglass you could make a box to fit both the spare and the sub. The spokes of the wheel act as a speaker grill. Then mount the amp on the back of the seat or under the parcel shelf. I'm a basshead and needed a HO 12, so no room for the spare and the needed mounting depth of the woofer.
And I didn't make it to the track this weekend. Temps in the high 90's so no good times were to be had. Rescheduled for Halloween!

I know you posted this a few months ago, but I used that shelf for a custom box with 2x 10" subs, and have really enjoyed it. Using the spare tire well is a phenomenal idea, but I'd never worked with fiberglass, so didn't want to risk screwing something up with my limited skills. Here're some pix of my box build showing the adjustment angle for the shelf, as well as pix of the amp and capacitor placement, and the bass knob placed on the center console.
