No interior lights no trunk lights
1995 XJ6 VDP
Hi to all the knowledgeable guys and the others (like me !)
Got a problem:
I have no interior lights of any kind, no map lights and no trunk lights neither (the sunshade mirror lights are working)
I do not know if linked or not: no clock neither.
All other lights (driving signal dash etc are working)
I have checked 3 boxes of fuses, every single fuse. Nothing wrong there.
As I know there should be a 15 second shut of delay I thought there could be a relay of some kind somewhere;
Who has an idea if there is of if there are relays and where would they be
Thanks
My wife does not like this "dark" interior at night ! ! !

Further to no interior lights, no trunk lights and no clock I found out also, this AM, that the cigar lighters do not work neither
Every possible fuse has been checked
So i still belive this must be arelay problem but the jaguar tech or shop manual do not mention a single thing for this kind of problem

Mmmm, stab in the dark from down under, hahaha.
I would be locating and doing some connector cleaning on the "body control module".
This module has a LOT of stuff going thru it, and the radio/interior lights etc are just some.
This module is located on RHD cars up behind the glovebox on the LH side of the dash and easily got at. NO IDEA where it is on LHD cars, maybe the same place??.
It is becoming reasonably common for the plug connector to grow stuff on the pins etc, and this reeks havoc with the car.

Dear Starlia Mate
Found a big "box" on the right side, inside called GEM 6 Control Unit LNA1410AG/102 but according to what I have found it is the Engine Control Module with two sepaarte huge multi pin connector. Is this waht you mean ? Than baby new is over $4000.00 and even used $500.00 or so.
I can't belive that this unit would control the interior lights.
Please give me your thoughts
Or did I look at the wrong box? But I did not spot any other one yet
Thanks
Anyone else with ideas is welcomed as well
Thanks again

Claude,
Nah. That is the engine ECU, not related.
The body control module is behind the glove box area whether RHD or LHD, it swapped sides as did some other stuff.
It is behind a vertical metal plate.
My parts book is real unclear as to what you should expect to see when the glovebox panel is removed. My car shows a 54 pin plug starring right at you, and a metal bracket thingy hanging down, with some securing nuts on it.
THIS I believe is the module in question.
I could NOT stay twisted in that position long enough to confirm it, but will look again tomorrow (damn I hate arthritis in the spine, bugga), and will post back what I find. I will take the camera with me and see what I can snap.

its just behind that panel. pull the screws from the bottom, about three or four and pull it towards you gently. There are friction clips along the top edge below the wood panel. once thats out there will be a steel plate. remove the screws for the plate and you should see a bunch of stuff. the BPM is the big module with the big connector.

Body Control Module
Hi guys,
OK As I said I have no glove box so I will try to reach the module. If you do not hear from me in the next few days this will mean that I triggered the airbag and that I receive a mohogany panel on my face and that I am covered in talcum power. I will ask my wife to take a piscture and I will post it

some interior lights out
Claude, Your thread dangles in suspense for those of us with interior lighting problems. My XJ-8 has no lights in the trunk, no lights on the right side front and back window switches, though the windows work, and no light on the left rear window switch. If that ain't enough, I have no light on the rear right door for the red lens courtesy light. all other courtesy lights work.
Nothing as dramatic as all your problems. But I wonder if you solved your problem and if you can give a clue to mine.
All fuses and connections seem OK. Battery is new.
Many thanks.

No interior lights
Hi,
Still no solution(s) and prroblen got worse now with no door remote control acting (good battery) when I open or close the doors with the key and with right hand door the locks go up and dow 3 times.
If I lock from friver's door with key it is extremely hard but it works
If I open the doors with key ny driver's door the other locks lock themselves without warning so does the trunk.
So I think I am going to remove tye drvier's door panel and look in there. I have afeeling that the gremilns might hide in there.
As mentioned by several paople I am also looking at the wiring jarness on the right hinge of the trunk going toward the rear seats but so far it looks OK.
I am quite ppositive taht it is something very stupid but the problem is where to find that stupid problem?
Do not worry, I will let you know if I find any cure(s)
