Default Upgraded supercharger upper pulleys/porting

Anyone here know if there's a difference between the 1.5lbs pulleys from Mina and Eurotoys? I have a Mina upper pulley for my XJR yet to be installed. I was thinking about porting and installing that pulley on my supercharger.

Although, when I talked to Stiegemeier superchargers, they said they have a porting program that adds 70hp at the rear wheels for our eatons. Is that realistic? I'm sure I'm going to have to upgrade my intercooler in that case and most likely the ECU to handle the rush of extra air.

From what I've researched so far:

PSE Superchargers have stated porting increase of 27hp at the wheels with options of 20hp 1.5lbs pulley and 30-35hp 3.0lbs pulley from Eurotoys.

Steigemeirer stated they have porting at 30hp at the rear wheels with options of up to 70hp at the wheels with their pulleys.(70hp at the wheels is outrageous and I love it, just worried about whether their pulley will fit on my belt for the XJR)

Both are around $1500 minus labor of installing.

70 at the rears is waaay optimistic....in my view, there would have to be heavily revised induction, exhaust, s/c, pulleys, intercooler pump and rad plus a remap.

Thumbs up

I think what Bob was going to do for that price is his Snakebite upgrade which involves reworking the blower & increasing blower spped by 50%. I have used Stiegemeier for quite a few years now & have always been very happy.

I'm really considering it since PSE's option is 30-40hp less for the same price. Do you think I'll need an upgraded intercooler and ECU with Stiege's Snake Bite?

There have not been any dynos presented so far with ported eatons (if I have missed one, please let me know the link).

70 rwhp is NOT achievable just like that with the Eaton (50 will already be a struggle), and even in stock speed it would already benefit from a larger (not thicker) intercooler radiator.

Can Stiegemeier and PSE provide any creditable before and after dynos?

Step 1 imho would be to ask for dyno results from an owner who can be contacted, there should be some on this forum I guess.

Nevertheless, would be good if someone would finaly go this route, and update the before and after dyno results, it will benifit many I guess.

Good luck!

Only one I found is here: http://www.svtperformance.com/forums...tiegmeier.html

Before the port: The car made 475RWHP / 485RWT uncorrected, and 465RWHP / 475RWT SAE corrected on the same dyno back in late spring / early summer on a crappy rainy humid day.

After the port: The car made 508RWHP / 490RWT, and this was heat soaked due to being put on the dyno right after the test drive. The air was humid and sticky, so not the best for optimal power.

Bad comparison actually, as when I read it right, more was done than just a ported blower:

- Stage IV port
- Mafia
- 60lb Fuel Injectors
- Fastlane custom tune
- Billetflow Throttlebody / Plenum
- Fluidyne Heat Exchanger

Impossible to tell what has given the improvement.

Next to that it is not a jaguar (just to much differences in all areas), so another reason why it is not comparable.

I will try to explain here based on the Eaton graphs how difficult it is to get more power from the Eaton in high pressure setups:

Now I tried to put all the figures in a table, and estimated that at 14.000 RPM of the Eaton, you could be at about 14 PSI. Below are then the estimates:

These numbers are not exact of course, but I hope that this gives a better idea, that by just spinning the Eaton faster you do not automatically gain huge amounts of power, there is much more you need to do.

$24,000 for 100hp upgrade? They better supply a lifetime of handjobs to go with that.

My STR's blower is getting the snakebite upgrade right now. I'll get it on the dyno when I get it back and let everyone know how much it makes or doesn't make. The boost is supposed to increase by about 4 lbs accordin to Bob. If you think every pound is worth about 15 hp and the port job is worth 10-20, the 70hp number isn't too far off (if you can control the discharge temps to avoid timing being pulled).

The snakebite is a porting job to the case and then changing the internal step up ratio in the blower. You use your stock pullies and belt. I thought about going to a larger crank pulley or small blower pulley, but for the money $1295, this seemed reasonable. I looked at it as a $500 port job, and then $800 for the gear changes. I would have spent $250 on a pulley, $100 on a belt, and would have had to hassle with changing the pulley ect. If I wanted to go the larger crank pulley, that's $1500 from eurotoys...

Would LOVE to see the dyno on that STR ported from Bob and put a lot of speculation to rest.

haven't got it on the dyno yet. I'll get to it at the end of the month. I'm working on the vette this week installing a different fuel system. I was previously running out of fuel by 3800. It still made 668 hp and 717 torque running out of fuel though....

bummer, it's probably not going to get on the dyno anytime soon. I'm tapped out as far as cash and the check engine light is going on. I got a gearbox fault last week. There's just too much junk going on to push the car right now. My cash is going to obdII code reading software....

pse no longer ports superchargers. I have been waiting for 3 weeks on a supercharger now. I sent it through Eurotoysltd. Pse is out of the business of porting superchargers.
