Default Recent purchase of 1995 Double Six

I bought a Double Six a couple of weeks ago and have been working my way through some minor tasks on it. Generally it is in very good condition but there is some wear on the driver's seat bolsters that I am planning to sort. Also a small scratch to touch in and a couple of minor issues to address inside like the cupholders being broken and a speaker grille being bent.

Only the high tone horn worked on purchase but I had the front grille off anyway to polish the chromework and that just seemed to be a poor connection as testing it with a 12v battery showed it to be working and putting it back on the car I now have both the high and low tones working in unison again, which is more befitting of the grand car than the little 'peep' it was making before!

One thing that was missing on purchase was the key fob. I bought a replacement the other day and struggled to get it working but having done some research on here I now believe that this is likely to be due to the fact that the fob I bought is a 433 MHz one whereas I may need a 315 MHz. I couldn't see the frequency listed against the module number anywhere I searched but took a picture of the SLCM in the hope that someone would be able to confirm its frequency - I checked the antenna in the rear window and that appears to be a 433 MHz one, but VIN number and fact that the 433 MHz fob I bought doesn't work seem to suggest it could be a 315 MHz one and I should just have another go at sourcing an appropriate remote. Can anyone confirm for me please based on the details shown below?

Also whilst looking at the grille I noticed that the Daimler 'D' badge looked like it might have faded over time. I have seen new ones for sale in a gold colour - can anyone confirm for me that this would be the correct shade originally and maybe I will treat the car to a new emblem to set it off...

Hello!

Sorry I can't tell from the SLCM but it's most likely that you need a 315. You can probably resell the 433. The battery cover of the 315 should have "315" in with the other digits. Mind that it takes 2x2016 disc batteries.

The 1995 USA XJ12 has a gold growler on the grill, but again I can't say if this is the case with the Daimler. We need more research. There were many market variations worldwide.

Hello,

@"D" badge: My 1995 DD6 has a silver "D" badge, whereas my 1997 DD6 has a golden "D" badge. I also have a complete Daimler grille in reserve, with a silver "D" badge. Maybe the silver badges are worn?

@key fob: First of all: Maybe it's not a frequency issue but a programming issue. You know how to program the key fob and you had a try? Are you sure you did it the right way (there are several methods going round in the internet...). See the instruction in the attachment, it works fine with my cars. If this doesn't help: don't hesitate to ask at Jaguar heritage whether your car came with 433 MHz or with 315 MHz. Just take a look at their website: Jaguar Heritage. If the year of production of your car (don't confuse it with the model year or with the date of first registration!) is 1995 or later, then they should be able to answer your question.
Or you can try to contact the manufacturer. It was F+G Megamos GmbH, a German company situated most likely at
Albert-Einstein-Str. 5, D-51674 Wiehl, phone no. +49 2261 9710.
It seems that they are part of the Delphi Group in the meantime. Maybe they can help.

Cheers!
Harald
