Self closing sunroof

Self closing sunroof
I open my sunroof, in either the slide or tilt position, and it "automatically" closes itself after a matter of 10-30 seconds. I do not push the button to close it, I'm thinking it may be a sticky connection or loose wire in the switch. Any others have a similar experience and find a solution? Thanks, Roger

Does it look like the roof is fully opening? -- The roof will reverse if it thinks it is hitting something.
The tracks need occasional lubrication. Needs to be the correct grease and not too much.
Also, be especially careful that the roof has fully closed. For two reasons: (1) it will leak and (2) if the roof is not in the correct "closed" position when you try to open it to the vent position -- the plastic clips in the track can break.
Every sunroof in all my Jaguars have been a problem -- all have required some work. I never use the tilt feature -- the clips have broken is all three of my recent ones -- unbelievable pain to fix.

Yes, sunroof is fully open, it stays open for a few seconds, the closes, what is the correct lube? Can I use lithium grease? I have used this on sunroofs on other cars.

Thats strange -- I wonder if it has limit switches and if they require adjustment?
I do not know what the proper grease is -- I use a tube of Mercedes sunroof grease - it's not very expensive. It does not look like a typical white or Lithium grease. Often many of the lithium greases are too thick for.
It is light like the stuff for a garage door opener. Lubriplate - sells a garage door product that is lighter than the more common white product.
You need to clean the track off as well - just be careful -- lots of plastic pieces.

Maybe recalibrating the sunroof module will help? You can actually get the sunroof to fully retact instead of the usual 75% opening if you play around with it. I worry it will break something when it goes all the way back into the roof, as if it could break the track.
