What did you do to or buy for your XJ-S/XJS today?

Today I dove under the ski slope to dig out a couple fuses related to the radio, and found that they're both in good shape. Then I checked the 10 amp fuse on the radio itself. Also good.
Still can't figure out why my dang radio doesn't have constant power. Might have to pull the trigger on another AJ8700.

It is probably the radio ground/earth point. With the ski slope off, look for a black wire secured by a nut at the base of the transmission shifter (I think the rear left corner). Make sure the contact is clean or that the nut isn't loose.

Thanks for the tip. I'll make that my first stop the next time I get a chance to get under the ski slope. I'm still convinced that the unit itself is to blame, but I don't mind getting lucky. Those AJ8700s are getting hard to find.

cap. rotor, did not fix marelli failure.... had coil new on shelf... (not like an elf) solved marelli failure problem... and the car has NEVER ran this good and smooth since I bought it... and even more power
had failure after picking up disabled daughter yesterday... lots of heat ... drove it a mile home.. thought she was done for... the outer covering on the abs senor broke down.... smelly! I will need to replace...
now I have too buy a new coil to keep in stock... and cap too... still have another rotor...
there is at least 25 to 33 percent more power... and SMOOTH too... this is going to be nice... 50 percent more below 2300 rpm

My daily driver is in for a few tweeks and so, I get to drive my darling XJS. It seems like half the summer has already passed us, and have yet to put the top down. British Columbia has had a terribly cold June, with storms , rain and lots of wind.I hope the rest of July is nice. Happy motoring everyone!

I am sure there are sprays in Germany or even shops that provide a ceramic coating for exhaust ... you would find it beneficial .... jet hot coatings is one here....
back when I did my Austin Healy I found a local company that did aluminum FLASH coating... (primarily for boat trailers to make them rust resistant...)
it also keeps the heat in the headers very nicely... Aluminum flash coating is where they feed a al wire to a special welding torch and it is vaporized and the aluminum is blown onto the object... makes pretty headers...

Took me two weeks to get two of the steering rack mounts replaced with urethane. Gave up on the 3rd (upper) when I got the others in. Not worth the hassle. Did it on the car, tried all tools and DIY methods, bottom line: they were stuck and had to be hacked out.
Steering is now "less loose".
Next up, front wheel bearings. Oh joy.

A "few" pictures... The V12 is now sparkling clean with a few repainted parts (engine mounts and co). If compared to the older pictures of the engine in "dirty" you'll see how much effort went into this.
I've started to fit parts again... At long last. And all is going quite well... Just a little set back: the rear left manifold/header has a sheared off stud. Will be a pita to remove but I doubt I won't manage it

I take the dig and won't bother anymore. You can also simply select in your browser menu 'don't show all pictures'... But I won't bother anymore.

Do not take it personally; SteveM is a National Treasure, his posts to be appreciated as the apotheosis of English Eccentricity. If I had a pound for the number of times I have helped people and received no thanks for it, or been proved right and received no acknowledgement from someone who has taken the contrary view, I would have enough petrol money to be able to drive my XJS all day every day!
Your pics are great, and this entire thread was your idea, and everyone appreciates it and uses it.
