Trans mount
Addressed clunky gearbox mount.
Replaced center bushing and spring buffer.
Findings: only need one spring buffer.
Removed right side intermediate exhaust pipe to facilitate access.
Drilled a 3/4 inch hole in a 4 inch 2x4 to lift and lower the spring mount with a small bottle jack.
Took about 2 hours.

Jonathan,
I used a fluid extractor with my air compressor, via the auto dipstick. That pulls a max of 2.45 - 2.51 litres, I then refill with exactly the same amount, drive 10 miles then repeat. I've now done that 4 times. The next stage is to do the same drain, open drain plug (although from previous experience, I don't expect any more fluid to come out), disconnect dipstick tube then drop the sump. Once the sump is fully cleaned, filter replaced, sump and dipstick refitted, new sumpplug washer fitted, then I have choice...
I'll either do 4 fluid changes with new Dexron III as per previous suction approach... or.....
if I can get two helpers and get the car up on my mate's 4-post ramp, I might instead fill the box, pull the transmission cooler return pipe to the box. start the engine, get the box to pump the fluid out whilst a similar amount is constantly being introduced via the dipstick. This should require less fluid and enable a cleaner change as the new fluid should push the old fluid out rather than completely dilute it. It just requires the co-ordination of 3 people!

Just fixed my headlamp switch. One of the screws wasn't pulling it's weight anymore so I replaced it with a slightly larger screw. The whole assembly is held together pretty snugly now, but it's still tired and cracked, so I'm afraid It's a temporary fix. Might me time to look for a replacement.

I've been gathering up parts needed for Major Tune Up for both V12's (87 XJSC & 83 XJ-S HE)
2- Mann Oil FIlters
6 Gallons 5W-30W Castrol Magnatec Oil
24 - NGK Iridium Spark Plugs
2 - Sets NGK HT 8MM Wire Sets
4 - WIX Air Filters
2 - WIX Fuel Filters
2 - Lucas Distributor Caps
2 - Distributor Rotors
4 - Sets of Injector Seals (6 per set)
4 - Moulded upper radiator hoses (passenger and drivers side)
2 - Moulded lower radiator hoses
4 - 180 degree Thermostats with correct gaskets
1 - 100 Pk O Rings for the air supply pipes
1 - Injector connector for cleaning injectors
6 - Gallons Distilled Water for coolant
6 - Gallons Anti Freeze Concentrate for Coolant
2 - Water Wetter
20' EFI 225psi Barricaded 8mm (5/16") fuel line
10' EFI 225psi Barricaded 10mm (3/8") fuel line
8 - Vee belts
Out side of ordering the rotors and 1 Dist cap from SNG Barratt, and the injector seals from Auto Zone, everything else I was able to get locally within two days if they did not have them in stock and had to order them.
My wife signs the invoices when parts are delivered, she told me I really do not want to know cost, other than Fuel Line was extremely expensive. Over 6.00 usd per foot.
Getting ready to start on the actual tune up, Oil Change and fuel filters are complete.

I'm still using the stock ones that came in the car when I bought it... the low temp ones are on my shelf... (like an elf)
have not had a need to change to cooler ones yet
here are the ones at Auto zone (Always get one with a hole and a jiggiley pin)

Warren,
Tks for your thoughts. A lot of people would think it's a lot of hassle that way, but having seen how little of the old fluid one can extract using conventional methods, it does seem as if it would be worth the effort.
