Leaking Hydraulic Fluid from Convertible Top
Hello Everyone, this is my first post so I hope I dont offend protocol
I have a 2005 XK8 Convertible. Over the weekend, green hydraulic fluid started leaking from the convertible roof. I have since discovered that this is a common problem, having read about the dreaded "green shower'
My question is given the frequency of this issue, is anyone aware if there is a Jaguar recall for it ? I currently have the vehicle with a specialist Jaguar repair shop but as they are not an approved dealer they will not start work until I say so just in case I have to move it to a dealer.
I am in Toronto, Canada. Any suggestions greatly appreciated
Many thanks

Unfortunately, Jaguar has never admitted that this is a warranty issue. Even with the extended Jaguar warranty on Select Edition cars the hoses are not reliability covered as they make the argument that the issue is with 'hoses' which are not covered. Some have overcome that with persistent pressure on the dealer.

Can I ask a question ?
Further to my last post on the topic of the hydraulic problem with the convertible roof, I guess the the first thing I should say is that I not mechanically minded so I will not be attempting the repair myself.
My mechanic, who only works on Jags and is, I think, really good, tells me this job is horrible as it involves basically taking the interior of the car apart. This is in line with what I have read elsewhere. So he is talking about 7 to 10 hours labour plus about $350 in parts
I came across a website for LSI where they offer a repair kit which, they say takes about 30 minutes to instal. The kit is just under $300. Does anyone have experience with these kits and should I go for the quick fix or the full blown interior strip down replacing all the lines.
Thanks again for feedback
