Default Rear bumper fittings

Just got round to removing my rear bumper to replace a broken mount (new mounts arrived today). When I was removing it I found that the brackets that hold the bumper sliding mounts were in an awful state (one had corroded right through and the other wasn't much better) so Does anyone know if the brackets are just bolt on and what they are called ? If not would drilling a couple of small holes through the bumper, into the body and securing with a few pop rivets hold it sufficiently ?

Thanks

I had the same problem and in the end had to manufacture my own replacements. They are spot welded onto the body but there is no reason why the replacements cant be bolted. Be prepared for rust on the body where they are located, simple jobs like this just spread!

As I only expect to have the car for another 2 years I may well try pop rivets.

As far as easy jobs spreading. Car has run out of MOT and needs a left hand upper O2 sensor, Octopus hose leaking so need to replace that as well. Got the hose out without much problem. The O2 sensor however is likely to need a new cat as well as it will not move no matter what I have tried so far (through from the footwell, spanner from above, soaking it for hours in penetrating fluid, spanner and hammer etc. Last throw of the dice for it is to try and cut it down short enough to get a normal sized socket and big breaker bar on it but the metal in the sensor is tough to cut with a hacksaw).

I don't suppose you have the measurments you used to make new brackets. Looking closer at it I don't think pop rivets would be a good idea.

Thanks

Is it these you are looking for?

And my upper O2 sensor I did like this.

Not enough leverage like this.

So added a long spanner like this to get the leverage needed.

If that is the mounts that come down from under the boot (ish) area and attach to the sides of the rear bumper then they are what I need to fashion (or something similar.

I have tried everything I can think of to move the O2 sensor now but it will not shift at all (even the sensor socket opens up and slips round without turning it so it looks like I will have to drop the cat out to get it (or replace the cat and both O2 sensors)

Yes, they look like this in situ.

PM me if you are interested in these ones.
