Cars.co.za is a news and car classified site in South Africa. Recently, they were able to convince the city officials in Cape Town to close down a section of road for them. Then, they did what we would all do with a closed road, they raced a group of cars up to see which is the fastest. This series of videos compares cars in similar power and performance categories. In this case, Aston Martin, BMW, and Jaguar all make small, sporty, rear wheel drive coupes. Although the performance pairing is close, the pricing of this group is very broad. The BMW starts around $45,000, the Aston Martin Vantage 430 at $113,000 and the limited Jaguar F-Type 400 Sport starts around $89,000. Prices may be different but the horsepower numbers tell a different story.

The Aston Martin V8 Vantage has 430 horsepower compared to the Jaguar F-Type’s 400 horsepower. While the underdog in this fight is the BMW 240i, which has only 335 horsepower. Although the BMW is down on power, it has a weight advantage on the faster coupes. Both the Jaguar and the Aston Martin weight in around 3,550 pounds, while the little BMW is only 3,240 pounds. Is the weight advantage enough to give the BMW the victory?
