2005 XKR w/ Alpine system Rear bass problem?

2005 XKR w/ Alpine system Rear bass problem?
Hey there,
In our XKR, we have the Alpine system in our car, with the tweeters on the top of the doors with the bass on the bottom and two sub woofers in the back.
I dont know if this is supposed to be this way, but the rear subs have a "choppy" sound to them. They don't have a smooth sound to them like the door ones do.
Any idea what could be causing it?
(the bass is turned up full w/ treble.)
Its not loud it starts about when the volume reaches about 14-15 on the digital reading.

those little 6.5 subs are probably gone, RIP.
