My 2006 XJ Super V8 has the 320 watt Alpine sound system, and I'm pretty disappointed in it. It's nowhere near as good as the Bose system in my last Mercedes S500. I understand that the Super V8 Portfolio edition has a 400 watt system, and I'd like to consider upgrading to this if I can. Does anyone know what it would take? Does the 400 watt system have a different head unit? A different (or additional) amplifier? Different speakers? If it won't be practical to upgrade to the Portfolio edition's sound system, is there anything I can do to improve the 320 watt system in my car, or is it so integrated with the other electronics that I should just leave it alone?
