Default Best radar detector

First, Thanks to all of you guys and this forum. I learn a lot from reading the threads.

So, when I started my research on which radar detector to buy for my new car, I did what I always do whenever I have a choice to make on a purchase that is pretty important. I asked my friends, I asked the stereo shop guy, I asked the guys at the dealership and then I go on the internet.

And you know what I found on the internet?.......mostly confusion, deception and straight up hustling for my money. So then I did something really crazy.
I picked up the phone and called the radar detector companies directly to get their opinion on why I should buy their product, I wanted to know what they have to offer and I was surprised at what I found out.

All radar detectors have SOMETHING to offer, they all are made with the same purpose, to prevent you from getting speeding tickets and some have some really cool features. So, which radar detector will give me the most for my money, which company did I trust after speaking to them…? Was it Escort/Bel/Passport ( Same People ), K40, Cobra, Valentine, or Whistler?
And my conclusion was K40.

Every other manufacturer tried to sell me on why they were so much better than anyone else, then tried to sell me something over the phone. Not one person, except K40’s lady, asked me what kind of car I drive, where I drive, what state I live in, do I travel a lot, have I ever owned a different radar detector, what did I like or not like about it. She knew every available option on my new car, and spent about 25 minutes answering my questions. And do you know what she said at the end……she thanked me for calling and told me to call her anytime with any questions regardless of which radar detector I bought. I even told her that I own and use a V-1, she said they were great portables and a good choice!

Nicely done K40, I have called them a few times with additional questions. They are extremely knowledgeable about the industry and the products and features they have, and my vehicle specifically and whether or not it has safety features that use radar that could possibly interfere with a radar detector. I decided to go with their new RL360 because of how versatile and integrated it is, plus it is the only radar detector that offers both front and rear radar receivers in their system.

I don’t care which radar and laser protection you buy, I’m just saying, don't short yourself anything. Do the research. Buy the products that you believe will work for you, from a company you like. It’s our money guys, let’s make them earn it.

I found this video on there Youtube channel

Escort and this whole radar detector business cracks me up.

Both the Escort radar detectors, and the Stalker series of radar guns are made by Cincinatti Microwave.

So, basically. They sell the cops a radar speed monitoring unit.

Then they sell the public a radar detector to pick it up.

Then they sell the cops a new better radar speed monitoring unit.

Then they sell the public a new radar detector to pick up the new radar unit.

Repeat...

Then they got real creative. They sold the cops VG2 radar detector "detectors" - so cops could sniff out people with detectors.

Then once again they sold the public "VG2 invisible" stealth radar detectors.

The radar detector is fast becoming obscolete due to laser penetration.
Laser however is Jammable to SOME degree.
Until they make it illegal to do so...

Take care,
George

Love the belltronics GX65... fastter than the Escort 8500... (too bad it was stolen in MD....)
I also used the V1, love the simplicity (directional detection) but not rellay please with the display (at night it is hard to see the Band, only light on the bogey)

But I found the new Passport IQ to be nice too, along with the GPS (makes it easy to bring on travel trip and in between rental car (i used rental cars 220 days last year)

has anyone tried custom install the 9500ci with the lazer shifter packs?

Default Interesting radar compasion

K40 RADAR DETECTORS vs. ESCORT RADAR DETECTORS
I have reviewed tons of information and watched a ton of videos on encounters using both the K40 RL360 radar detector and the Escort 9500ci. I understand that ALL radar encounters are different and depending on the envoirment and surroundings range could be different. Seeing that most of us rate our radars based upon our REAL WORLD driving experiences, I have decided to compare a few different encounters that were as close as possible driving tourane. Very interesting to see who displayed better range and more warning on same band encounters, take a look !

Escort 9500ci / Redline vs. Ka band Leo encounter:
This video was .66 secs long and was on a basic straight away interstate with the Leo on left side of road. Redline detected at .28 sec into video and the 9500ci alerted at .36 secs into video they passed the Leo 60 secs into the video giving at most .32 secs of warning time to the driver take a look.

K40 RL360 vs. Ka Band Leo Encounter:
This video was .123 secs long also on a straight away highway however it was down a hill with the Leo on left side on the road.
The K40 RL360 detected .19 secs into video and they passed the Leo .78 secs into video giving the driver .59 secs of warning time. Take a look.

Escort Redline vs. Ka Band Leo Encounter
This video was .52 secs long and was on a basic straight away highway with the Leo on left side of road. The Redline alerted .14 secs into video they passed the Leo .46 secs into the video giving at most .32 secs of warning time to the driver take a look.

K40 RL100 vs. Ka Band Leo Encounter:
This video was .62 secs long also on a straight away highway with the Leo on left side on the road. The K40 RL100 detected .62 secs into video and they passed the Leo .80 secs into video giving the driver .62 secs of warning time. Take a look.

Escort 9500ix vs. Ka Band Leo Encounter
This video was .104 secs long and was on a basic straight away highway with the Leo on left side of road. The 9500ix alerted .32 secs into video they passed the Leo .116 secs into the video giving at most .44 secs of warning time to the driver take a look.

K40 RL100 vs. Ka Band Leo Encounter:
This video was .71 secs long also on a straight away highway down a hill with the Leo on left side on the road. The K40 RL100 detected immediately into video and they passed the Leo .66 secs into video giving the driver .66 secs of warning time. Take a look.

I found this radar comparison online, hope this helps anybodies radar decsions. Great info!

Valentine 1 used to be the best, but the passport 9500 is now the best. I have the passport 8500 and it's great!

Just save some money, and don't speed.
Hard to do in a Jag, ain't it?

I have the Valentine 1 and it's saved me many times. I don't know what the others cost, but I only paid half price for my V1.

It's hard to do in any car, if you drive you will have exceeded the speed limit at some time.
