Default Bluetooth ?

My 06 XKR has a microphone, speaker, phone buttons and a Bluetooth manual, but I can't synch my cell phone with the car - it responds "No Phone"

Does the car need some kind of phone module? Was it standard and now missing? Where do I find it or find where it's supposed to be?

I guess I don't understand Bluetooth - I thought it just played my phone through the audio system, but maybe that's wrong - maybe the car needs it's own phone and then works through my cell ???

I would be grateful for an education.

Thanks.

The phone button is there on all the vehicles. The microphone for the Bluetooth is about an inch long, half an inch wide, and half an inch high. It will be mounted on the surface of the headliner just about where your head would be and close to the center line of the vehicle. If you can't find that, you don't have a Bluetooth enabled car.

If you do have that, then it is likely that your cell phone is not compatible. You can find out if this is true or not by starting to look at:

James,

Did you ever get Bluetooth connected? I was also interested in seeing if available on my '06. In reading the original 2006 brochure on the XK/XKR it states that Bluetooth is included on the Victory Editions.

Default No Bluetooth

No, never got it working - I have the equipment - the microphone and speakers, but when I go through the procedure in the book, when I press the phone button, it immediatly says "NO PHONE".

Maybe the phone module is dead - maybe just a bad fuse (haven't checked that) or something else is wrong. But, no bluetooth so far.

Hey guys, one of you should post up in the XK8-XKR subforum, I remember awhile back someone over there doing lots of work getting the phone module installed and getting their built-in bluetooth to work. I didnt pay that much attention to remember much details, sorry.

Howdy Folks!!...
Sorry I didn't follow up, I forgot where in the forum I had posted...

I went up to the jag site and printed instructions on how to connect my Blackberry smart phone. I then went out and following the instructions, paired up my phone. It was real easy. I would add that I have Nav, so I used the touch screen. Now I haven't actually used it yet, but it paired up and when I open my phone after starting the car... my phone asks to connect to the "Jaguar". And when I say (press the icon) "yes" I get the bluetooth icon.
I suppose one of these days, I'll try it out.

Drive On!!...

1st thing is you need to set your phone to "allow" the device to be found, it'll give you about 2 minutes in which time you can sync and dock your phone with the car.
