I'm getting an 07 XKR with Premium Snd in the couple of weeks. But for the life of me I can't find any info here or on the internet about the design of the Premium audio system. Number and sizes of speakers, power, subs, location of speakers ect..

Anyone want to help a newbie out? Thanks!

 

I can tell you it's 320w and doesn't have ipod capability. It took Jaguar a while to catch onto ipods!!!!

 

I've just joined the forum, so you may already have all this already. I have Premium sound in my XKR. Here are the highlights -- If I'm permitted to upload attachments or if you want to send me your email address, I can provide photos

Highlights:
- 8 speaker Alpine setup, rated at 525 watts
- center round on the dashboard
- subwoofer
- component speakers in the front door:
- 5-1/4" midrange in the lower panel (near your shins)
- tweeter in the triangle notch of the door/window
- 2-ways (I assume) 5-1/4" in the back seat, just above seat-level
- Premium Dolby ProLogic(R) II

BTW, you will LOVE the XKR!!

 

Let me add this, to be safe.. the grills are 5-1/4" across, but I've seen mixed signals on whether there are 5.25" or 6.5" speakers behind there. I haven't taken the grills of, so I can't confirm.

Ok where is the sub? How can you get to it? Where are the amps?

Anyone added or replaced the stock sub?

I did pick up the XKR and the sound is Ok but not great. I just got rid of a 2011 Volvo C70 that had a wonderful Dynaudio system.

Perhaps I should drown out the audio with a catback exhaust

 

I don't know about the sub and amps, sorry. I am planning to upgrade the audio with after market amp and speakers next month, which is why I'm about to post a thread at the Audio/Electronics forum with some key questions. I'll include the sub questions in that post.

 

No answers yet on the aftermarket amp/speakers question. The sub and amp are mounted together into a single enclosure. The amp is bolted into a cutout in that enclosure, on the front, left side. The entire enclosure itself is located in the driver-side footwell, at the back on the lefthand side, behind a false panel.

Mine is a 2004 XKR Conv....just got it and don't know whether it has standard or premium sound system? 6 speakers or 8
There are 2 speakers behind, 2 in the doors and 2 tweeters the grills on top of the dash do nothing....can't find any info? any advice please?
Is there a great difference between standard/premium system?
