Default Where's my amp?

I just bought my dream car, a 2000 XJR. I love the car, but it is time for the factory audio system to get a much-needed upgrade. I'm using a JL Audio CleanSweep to retain the factory head unit, and I need to run high-level inputs to the unit. Got a couple questions for you Jaguar audio experts:

1- Where is my factory amp located? I have the Alpine system (CD changer, navigation, factory 6x9 "subwoofer" in the decklid.)

2- How will the factory Alpine components handle more power? I'm using an Alpine 50x4 amp to power the components in the doors. I was planning on upgrading these speakers in a couple months, am I OK to run this amount of power to the factory Alpine speakers in the meanwhile?

Thanks in advance for the help, this forum has been invaluable so far in my XJR ownership experience! I haven't seen any information on installs with CleanSweeps here, I'll definitely take some photos of my install and post a log once I get things done.

I'm sure a little more power won't hurt them, but seriously, they're 10 yrs old, they won't sound fantastic. Splurge, go speakers too. (I love spending money that isn't mine)

My amp is located below (or above) my cd changer..can't remember exactly. You're probably in the same area.

Good point, you are probably exactly right. I went a bit over budget on the subwoofers for this install...but what the heck. I might as well just do it all in one fell swoop. Like they say, buy once, cry once.

Default Speakers

Donny, I agree with "h20boy", go ahead and switch out all the speakers, overall sound with be better. Many companies that do "Use name Brand Components" do use them but they do not use the "Top of the Line" in that Brand, Ex. they may be Alpine speakers, but they will not be "Alpine's" Top of the Line Speaker. Spend the extra money, you'll be happy later.
