whats up guys? im planning on installing a 10" or 12" ssa icon sub powered by a sundown sae-1000d amp and some new door speaker. i really dont want to get rid of the stock cd player (cause of the disk changer) but will i need to replace it w/ a aftermarket h/u? or will the stock cd player be power enough?

and what is the size of the door speakers? help is much appreciated.. thanks in advance..

 

I have a factory head unit and I'm pushing 2 12's and a rockford fosgate 500watt power series amp. It sounds great. The stoc k head unit pushes enough power. On the 02 x-type you can add an additional 2 6.5's on the rear deck. The cut outs are already there. Good luck with the install.

 

The stock would be power enough for it...i know of some mb quart components that are low powered speakers (35w rms) and I'd check into something like that if I were you. That way they'll sound better than the stock speakers and better than a higher powered speaker set powered by your stock radio. Best bet is to power the 4 speakers but you'll be fine!
