Hi all. Peter from Batemans bay, on south coast NSW. We are certainly outnumbered by the Victorians on this forum. Had Jaguars when I was younger, but had to drive boring cars for about 15 years. Then my wife bought me a 1999 XJ8 for christmas, they can't wipe the smile off my face. Has anybody had any experience with OBD readers for cars this age. I hear that even though they must work in USA, they may not work on Australian cars.
Pete

Default Hi from Tassie

Hi all

Just thought I would pop in and say Hi to the AU/NZ members... i am a Kiwi living is Aus (well, Tasmania), so fit well in here!

I have just picked up an 89 XJ40 Sovereign, which is my first Jag.. although ive owned a number of classic Euro's in the past, so familiar with pouring my wallet into the glovebox!

Jag has been great so far, but I need to source some (minor) parts (Like a visor and rear fog light)

Also wondering if anyone has any experience having paint work done? (ie the roof) and rough estimates (ie is it worth it?)

Cheers

And hello from Canberra, from another new owner of a Jag. I've been after one for years (got very close to buying a series 2 XJ12 when I was younger.... probably good that I didn't), and have finally made the plunge. I've already posted into the welcomes section of the main forum:

"Having entered my second week of Jaguar ownership, I think it's more than time to say hello - hopefully I won't need to bother any of you with maintenance or other problems!

"Weekend before last I collected a 1998 XJR (picture attached, more to follow when I get around to taking some, or more accurately, when it stops raining), and made the 800km journey home, leaving around 3pm, and getting in just after midnight. I needed three stops, two for fuel, and one to fuel myself. The drive back home was a joy, and made me wonder why I didn't pick up one of these brilliant cars years ago. Although they aren't as cheap here as they are in the UK or USA, they are a true bargain when compared to other European sedans.

"The car is stock, and in great order, and seems to be running perfectly. There are no flaws I've discovered in the past week and a half, although I did notice the headlining has dropped an inch or two directly above the rear passengers.

"The XJR is currently fighting for garage space with a 1984 Citroen CX25IE Pallas, and a 1974 Rover P6B (3500S), which suffered a catastrophic failure of the passenger side wiper in pouring rain, so I now have two British V8s with one wiper each.

"Anyway, as the title says, greetings from Australia (Canberra), and I look forward to hours of pouring over this forum (the iPod threads have already been thoroughly examined)!"

Default Hi from NZ

Hi All. Just wanted to introduce myself. I am waiting for the arrival of a 2006 XKR Later shape. The XKR is coming from the UK i live in New zealand. Should take around 31 days to get here. Originally i come from the UK. Moved to NZ approx 7yrs ago.
To say i am excited about its arrival is an understatement!!!!
There should be a pic of the XKR below, taken by my sister in the UK. If i have done right.
I no doubt will have a few questions so i hope you guys will be able to help.
If anyone from NZ wants a meet when my car arrives that would be great.
Cheers for now

Hi Everybody, My name is Matthew and I am restoring a 1969 Jaguar 420G. Its being painted in Botanical Green Metallic, a 2010 XF colour. I live in Noosa with parts of the car but the shell is in Moorabbin being painted by TLC smash repairs. My daily driver is a 2001 Holden Monaro 5.7L V8 which I have owned since new and have just clocked up 350,000kms on.

Default Jaguar spares

I have an x350 2003 Jaguar and there are zero used spares in Oz but I have been buying them from the UK where there are lots and very cheap.

I use E bay but many will not ship down under in which case you need a freight forwarder, or a friend in the UK who will ship them on.

As for new spares here I havn't dared ask!

BTW the quality of the used spares have been superb.

Good luck

Welcome awanohi (and all other recent Kiwi members). I see from your profile that you are involved in IT. I am a consultant in health IT so we probably have something in common there aside from our interest in Jags.

Regards
Stuart

Default Australia/NZ forum members

Good morning all!

Having used this forum for the past six months or so, it has struck me that the Australia/NZ folder is sometimes a pretty quiet place! Obviously the individual model folders are where most of us head for information, but I think it would be good if we could make this particular folder a place to share our unique Antipodean Jaguar experiences.

In time, I would like to post up the details of any Australia/NZ Jaguar club events that are happening. This will involve me reaching out to those clubs individually, so if any of you have any contacts I would very much appreciate knowing them.

With that in mind, I'd like to ask those Australia/NZ members to take the opportunity to introduce (or re-introduce) themselves here. For those that want to, I think a simple reply including your name, location, car details, and perhaps any Jaguar club you are affiliated with would be perfect!

So, I'm Dave in Canberra, and I'm in a 1998 XJR. I'm also (very passively) looking for a MkX/420G!
