Default Scan Tool at a significant discount

Seasons Greetings . . . and I bring news of a great Christmas present from YOU to YOU , , , Ho Ho Ho !!!

SuperCheap, with whom I have no affiliation other than as satisfied customer, has this great OBDII Scan Tool on special at 40% discount . . . but, I am posting here rather than in the general tech forum, for very good reasons . . .
  • I believe that the ToolPro brand is specific to Oz/NZ and may not be available to our international JaguarForums members;
  • regardless, my local goto SuperCheap lady and long term friend, advises this current sales discounting promo is limited to here;
  • the 40% discount knocks the price down from $140 to just over $80 and this is brilliant in light of its capability and features.
Now, I have a broad selection of OBDII tools . . . from simple ELM327 Bluetooth plus Torque app through to the Mongoose clone running a choice of s/w versions. A great tool would be one that combines simplicity with full as possible deciphering of Jaguar specific codes, yet without the complexity of more sophisticated tools, such as the unit that each SuperCheap store uses to decode your vehicle. That baby costs over $6,000 and yes, even our store located on the Bunyip Track, Somewhere North Of Nowhere, has one.

The ToolPRO
The ToolPRO model OM126 . . . packaged as SuperCheap PLU: 590595

Back to this scan tool and why, IMHO, it warrants recommendation . . . and this is only a limited list of its capabilities . . .
  • a sensible explanation of each portion of a typical alphanumeric code;
  • accurate reading of generic (SAE) Powertrain (P0xxx), Body (B0xxx), Chassis (C0xxx), and Network comms (U0xxx) codes;
  • accurate reading of the few Jaguar specific codes I generated for testing (ie P1xxx, P2xxx, B1xxx, B2xxx, C1xxx, C2xxx, U1xxx, U2xxx);
  • detailed and (apparently) sensible explanation of detected codes;
  • detailed and comprehensive live data (eg fuel trims), freeze frame and monitoring functions;
  • usb cable included to connect to PC to enable fully detailed printout of all scanned data readings.
Not for a second do I suggest this will report and decode all the Jag-specific DTCs, Will it interrogate all the airbags on my S-Type? I don't know. Certainly this is no replacement for the JTIS / WDS dealer specific tools that allow you to re-program keys, ECUs and other peripherals. Nor will it make coffee or answer your phone. LOL! However, for the 70 - 90% of code reading you could ever need, I think this is an excellent investment.

What do others think? The ELM327 costs about $10 and Torque Lite is freeware , , , but won't touch the Jag-specific stuff. Are you and your Jaguar really worth an $80 Christmas gift?

Cheers,
