Welcome aboard Beck. Please don't be shy about your car not being a 'show car' - this group is NOT about show cars. Just a bunch of Jaguar lovers who like a social get together and to talk Jaguar talk. We have a wide range of models and experience in the group. You sound pretty keen and will fit in well. Looking forward to meeting you at the ABD.

I too am delighted that our $20 per car will go to a worthy charity . . . so hey, all you canetoads, including my Bundy born Megs . . . please make this a must do. We are comin' to visit . . . and the southern cats are growlin' already.

Thanks all for offers of hospitality,
Stay cool,

Ken
Bundy born huh! Lots of good things come out of Bundaberg then. Would you Mexicans have time for another dinner or lunch date while you are here. Maybe we can arrange something the night before or after the event or even the next day if you'll be here for a while. What would suit your plans better? Cheers....

Absolutely Doug. Great opportunity! As both you and James know, your generous offers of overnight accommodation will depend on whether I am alone. If I rustle up others, we may hit Clarke's recommended dosshouse . . . but in either event, yes, let's pencil in a get-together dinner or barbeque. Does Sat night work, or Sunday night suit better? Megs won't know her flex time for some time, but even Monday lunch could be a hit.

All options OK with me . . . and yes, nice but significant distance makes spending a couple days very sensible.

Cheers,

Ken

Ken I'd be keen to catch up for said dates as well if I am able to get down before ABD

If it is on the Saturday night I'd have to find a place to sleep the night before (no dramas) if it is Sunday it will be after ABD, but I won't be able to stay in Brissie too late as my eldest son will most likely be traveling with me and I got to get the young scholar to school the next day

What suits the others?

OK. I see a few options . . . maybe a Sat night up towards Paul, Doug etc . . . and/or a Sun night (time permitting) somewhere near ABD venue. How about we pencil them in as options and firm up closer to event?

Gosh, you're a hospitable, friendly bunch . . . more so after all our offers of "wide sky sunshine" at Tenterfield offered heaps of rain instead . . . and the expensive diversion of an antique jewelry and gemstone shop!

Okay. Now we know you're up for a while we can think about a couple options for venues to suit everyone and get some discussion happening and work out a plan. No guarantees with the weather up here lately either. We have been known to put on some 'All British weather" for the All British Day. For southern visitors though we may be able to make an exception. If Meg's bank account has recovered I'm sure we can find some nice jewellery stores for her to browse too.

Private joke is when her budget might extend to paying the rego & insurances on "her" XK8. However, to be fair, her attention to detailed maintenance on the car is impeccable . . . regularly phones to ask if I have it all washed and polished after each visit! Hahaha.

Hi everyone,

I haven't missed an ABD in years, but I regret to say that I will not be attending this year.

I have got the best wife. She never questions the $$$ I spend on maintaining my cars.

This year I promised to take her to the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers (Sept 15-18).

Hoping that you have great weather and post lots of photos.

No worries Stu, thanks for letting us know and have a good time. I hear the Carnival of Flowers is quite a good turn out too.

Jim I hope the planets align and you can make it mate. It would be good to catch up again

What a good husband you are Stu. Looking forward to catching up with you again some other time to compare Mark 2 notes. Enjoy your weekend in Toowoomba. All the best.

Hope you can fit a visit in Jim. We'll do our best to divert the girls away from the jewellery shops this time. :-)

Not wanting to risk a very long drive in the old girl, it seems Brisbane is the closest airport for Nina and I to fly up for the weekend....am I right?

Brisbane or the Gold Coast are the options. Brisbane is best as it close to city, and easy to travel north from.
It seems like anything else planned for the weekend will be on the North side as most of the guys are up that way.

Gold Coast airport is well over an hour south.

Brisbane is definitely the best bet Jim. We can lend you an XJ40 for the weekend if you're flying up.
