Default Replacement of drivers seat & steering wheel

I am looking slowly & carefully at buying an X300 XJ6 or maybe the 308 with V8 engine.
Many of the cars I have examined show noticeable wear of the leather on the drivers seat. Similarly the leather on the steering wheel also suffers from wear.
My question is how do you go about fixing these issues to get that near perfect interior.

Thanks

The steering wheel can be repaired (Google). I've used the Leather Doctor for seat restoration and was happy with the results. If the seat is in really bad condition you're going to need new leather or a donor car with decent seats.

My seats are very ordinary but i have a mate that's a motor trimmer. He is slow but good.
As for the steering wheel i just, this morning in fact, fitted a SAAS timber one & it looks bloody awesome & probably cheaper than repairing the original.

This guy is very good, he does a lot of restoration and custom work. I have used him with great results.

I really do hate throwing a spanner into the works, but replacing an airbag equipped steering wheel with one that doesn't have an airbag is illegal and the car is then considered not roadworthy. Just my two cents, so do whatever pleases you.

So, how about a photo of the new steering wheel?

If you insist. The spokes are actually chrome, don't know why they look black.
Total cost was about $135 for wheel & boss kit from supercheap.

I've gone down the leather dye route before with good results but it can't bring back a damaged seat cover.

Another option is to source a good used passenger seat from any of the LHD markets - US, Canada or mainland Europe. You wouldn't need the whole seat, just the cover so shipping should be reasonable.
