Can't beat Ken's excuse for not being around on 09/8! But, we do have a few "away" weeks on i/state trips that we have to do in July/Aug, so for us Sept would work better, or possibly the last weekend of Aug.

OK lets push it back to Sept13 then. Its still out of school holiday time, and our globe trotters might be around to share their ventures.

We used to have a competition at work to see who could come back with the tackiest souvenir. One of my treasures was a small sea shell shaped, plastic mother of pearl picture holder with a picture of chairman mao. No pressure Ken, a snowball or a fridge magnet will do, but any trace of good taste is forbidden :-)

Maybe we should seek out a souvenir not made in China, now there's a man-size challenge!

Don't worry about me for this one. We won't be back till the 2nd of October and we're having a club run to Bathurst the weekend after.

A tacky souvenir in America shouldn't be a problem, recon I can even get around the China rule.
Mexico seems to be their China.

Just back from 4500kms over 3 weeks in the S3. Some minor wrinkles along the way but once again very lucky where the problems occured, so nothing a fuel filter, a carby clean out and a new battery couldnt fix.

So, for run number 3 , how about Paringa Estate Winery at Red Hill South.

Paringa Estate Winery & Restaurant -

Maybe meet up in the eastern burbs and go out via the freeway, Mornington, Bayside road and Arthurs Seat (any suggestions for alternative routes welcome)

If you are between Jaguars or yours is broken please still feel free to come along, our runs are as much about socialising as they are about the cars.

Let me know if you can come along and I will book the venue.

At the moment we have:

Jagent
Yarpos
Ozrisk

That's a serious run Steve. Well done to the S3, you must be a proud father!

Paringa looks good.

Steve, that is some serious miles in a short period. Good work from you both. I do some big road trips, but usually only 900-2000km over 3-4 days.
Just did 1100 last weekend and averaged 14.7l/100 km. Couldn't be happier.

Thats interesting, my LUMP does 14 and change ltrs/100kms also. Dont think I can do anything to improve it other than nanna driving or swapping the auto. The T400 has it spinning busily at 110 ish.

We have the luxury of time so we go 2-3 days in a row and then stay for a week or so, and repeat Not driving all the time.

Its funny we were talking a couple of days in that people would probably think we are crazy setting of for 4000k+ in a 30 year old modified car. Missus response? yeah, probably :-)

Her indoors still doesn't totally see why I leave a 3 year old Jeep parked on the street or at home when we do a road trip, she doe's admit she enjoys being a passenger in Fireball.
But still says why are they looking at us? Then she says,oh...the car, that's right.

A guy walked up to us in Stanthorpe on Tuesday and said "Nice old girl, the car I mean". She said as he walked away, "I'm not sure which way I should take that".

And I just left it at that.

You have clearly been married a while. Knowing when to leave it at that is a necessary skill.

That is no Nanna driving, I use the shifter and rev it to 5k in second all the time. Do a lot of 80mph+ on those forgotten NSW country highways.
I have done a trip to Armidale doing 13L/100 km but it was a boring 6 hours. I take the by-ways,not the hiways and enjoy the car.

Know when hold your tongue is the best advice

Count me in for Sep 13th. Near as damn it in my backyard! How could I say no.

I have some suggestions for a good driving route that includes start at Mornington, up to Arthur Seat (photo shoot at the top) from Dromana, over to Flinders for a coffee break (and the Chocolate Shop), then the Boneo Road from Flinders to the back of Rosebud and up to Arthurs Seat again so we get to drop down into Dromana before heading off the the winery for lunch. About 3 hours with stops, 4 hours if you want to have a good morning tea break.

Count me in for the 13th Sept Steve.

Will confirm if Deb is coming also.

You might want to pop up to Winton on the 25 July as well.

Jag Club Vic are having their sprint day if you wanted to come and watch.
