Default door keys ..hello

having had my front door key lock exchanged on my 88 xj40 i now use one key to enter the car and another to start it ...i have now lost the entry key and altho i can still enter the car by unlocking it from the px side with the original key it would be advantageous to have the key replaced but lock smiths tell me it can not be done ...what do i do ...go to a jag dealer and have the drivers door lock replaced or is there a way of obtaining a key to fit the existing lock

Hi

A few thoughts:

- have you run the problems past good Jag Indie places like Ratcliffes or JagDaim in Melbourne? A dealership may not be useful for an older model.

- personally I would rather spend the money on remote central locking, but thats just me, you may be more into originality

- posting this in the XJ40 section may also get more model specific eyes on your issue

I'm very surprised a locksmith can't help you. Do you have the round tibbe key or a flat double sided blade key?
