Default Ideas for 2015 Runs

This thread is just to capture some of ideas that came up over lunch on Run No 1 today. If you have other thoughts or just want to embellish these , please fire away.

Run linked to a motor racing related event e.g. hillclimb, V8s, club day. Could range from a boys day out to a drop in and geek at a low key event and move on to a lunch venue with partners.

Winter run to winery/restaurant Mornington Peninsula area.

Weekend away. One or two nights away for a longer run like the Alpine Way, Great Ocean Rd, South Gippsland or similar.

Appears to be some interest in Tassie subject to timing and days off for the poor sods who still work.

Another idea was a bring something else event i.e. turn up in the non Jag conveyance of your choice, but not in winter as the other choice may be a bike.

Cheers

I think you've pretty much captured the various thoughts of the group from yesterday. Keen to hear any ideas from future attendees who couldn't make it yesterday.

Hi Guys

Hope to catch you on a run if (when) the XKR arrives on 13 April.

Just some of my thoughts.
1. Drop in at a Rob Roy Hill climb day ( Christmas Hills ) and then lunch at one of the many wineries in the Yarra Valley
2. A mate of mine is the President of the Subaru WRX Club. They have track days at Sandown , Calder and Winton where there is lost of nice machinery going around , to watch . Not just Subaru's. If I asked nicely , I reckon we could join in a low speed parade lap at Lunchtime around one of the tracks?
3. The road from Mansfield to Tolmie is brilliant with a stop off for a Tolmie Burger.
4. Reefton Spur across the top to Marysville.
5. Out to Healesville and across through to Kinglake etc.

Hope to see you out on the road

Thanks Pete

Both Rob Roy and Haunted Hills were discussed on the day as potentials for a look and lunch type day.

I think within the group we have connections to a few different clubs. Its probably just a matter of finding an event that falls on a workable day. We will need to combine calendars at some stage.

Tolmie is a good trip, we go there for the once a year "Tolmie Sports" weekend. Mansfield/Jamieson/Eildon is also interesting.

I had a wry grin at the idea of a slow lap of Sandown. I think for some of our members the words lap, slow and Sandown wouldnt normally appear together :-)
Thanks for the input

I'm not sure I have the self-restraint to do a slow lap of any stretch of road that has no speed limit!
