I have a bit of a problem I hope you guys can help. I own a 2000 Jaguar XJ8 4.0 L. This problem does not happens often. Your driving along and you stop for a light or a stop sign and it like you have turned the key back to the second position. The engine just stops running. Radio stays on lights are on. Slip the transmission into neutral or park and restart the car which starts right up and your on your way. It seems this will happen about one’s a month or less. I have tried to reproduce this issue by wiggle the key I have checked all the ground cables points but I can not make it happen. Any help would be appreciated.

 

What is the fuel pressure when the condition occurs? You can read the fuel pressure via the OBD port using a Bluetooth interface with the Torque app on a smart phone.

Fuel pressure should be around 300 kPa (3.3 bar).

 

last time I checked the fuel pressure was in the summer and it was 298 kpa I have never checked when this happens. I guess I should carry my scanner with me. When this happens and I get home I have put the scanner on the system and there are no codes.
