RPM drop to zero
Hi,
got my 1974 XJ12 a few weeks ago and the engine was working fine so far. Today I started cold and had it run for a few minutes. After warming up all of a sudden the RPM dropped to zero. Restarted a few times and the RPM went up to about 2000 RPm and dropped again to zero, without any stuttering or similar.
Any idea what that might be? Probably no gas supply?
Would be great if someone had a similar problem and got it fixed.
Thanks
Eric

thanks for the tip. I'm on Vancouver Island and it's rather wet than cold.
The Jaguar was sitting idle for four years when I got it and built up severe sediments of rust and other solids. I changed the gas filter again and blown out the gas line and some nasty stuff was coming out of the line. As I've to replace a lot of different parts due to deterioration I also changed the ignition switch, which was mentioned by other memebers. But I assume it was the stuff in the gas line that blocked the proper fuel supply.
Thanks for your recommendation.

We had the same symptoms last week working on an old Farm tractor.
