Question to my fellow north Americans.. Should i get my xj8 rust proofed ? I understand they sometimes have to drill holes to do this. also Krown or Canadian tire?

 

I regret not having done my S-type and am now paying the price.
The Krown dealer near me is highly recommended, not about sure Crappy Tire.

 

Indeed. What i am mostly concerned about is if the process will cause damage

XJ8 since it is aluminium. I know what you mean regarding your S Type. I regret

not doing it every year on my x type now.

 

I can't imagine it doing any harm specific to aluminum vs. steel.

 

I did my 04 XJ every year as a preventative and I used Krown. I know that the aluminium jags are more corrosion resistant than the Steel ones, but I felt that the preventative maintenance would be well worth it. They did have to drill a few discreet holes but they put plugs in after.

I think it is a worthwhile investment personally, especially if you plan on keeping the car for a while. Just be sure to notify them that the car is aluminium. Cost a bit more than a hundred dollars the first time. A bit less every time after. Not sure if prices have gone up.

 

I've used Krown on all my cars for years. Never had one rust through. It's worth the $120. The holes are tiny and capped, and they don't deduct points at the car shows.
