Default Shipping to canada by ups . Beware

For the guys having parts shipped from US to Canada by UPS, THINK TWICE.
I just had used parts shipped from US to BC Canada by UPS . The parts ( including ) shipping $110.00 . UPS fees on top $53.00. And thats not dilliverd to the door I had to pick it up at the ( Beleve it or not ) Canada Post Office. If this had been Shipped by USPS it would have arrived direct at the post office no Charge .

Agree, and as I mentioned in another post.. With United States Parcel Service I generally do not get charged duty, however with courier companies I always do.

Yes, there's a class action suit against them If you kept your receipts you may claim. I've been screwed so many times!

It's fairly straightforward avoiding those fees as long as you tell UPS/Fedex that you want to import the item yourself and avoid brokerage fees. You get the paperwork from the courier and take it to customs, pay any required taxes, customs gives you a receipt and you show it to the courier when you pick up the parcel.

It seems that once you do this a few times they get wise to you and stop screwing you around. I once did all this because I had $1200 US in parts coming across and was afarid they were really going to ding me, and turns out I only saved $25 that UPS was going to charge me. They once wanted $50 for a $125 jacket and I wasn't taking any chances.

Google for the details of the procedure; its simple but means driving around.
