speed limit enforcement across Canada
I will be traveling in my XK Coupe across Canada from Ottawa to Medicine Hat in September. What degree of speed limit enforcement should I anticipate?
Here in Alberta the RCMP has cars, aircraft and now sheriffs that patrol the highways and their presence is substantial. If you are under 8 over the limit on the highway they generally won't bother you if your driving with some sense (no guarantee on the 8 over but it seems to be that way) I've heard that Sask is about the same but haven't been there for a couple of years. Hope this gives you a heads up
Sounds like a great trip! I hope you enjoy what you see of Canada. Just take your lead from the majority of other drivers as far as speed goes. In Ontario, up to 14km over gets you the lowest ticket ($50-ish I think). There are menus posted on the bigger highways with a list of fines for increasing speeds.
