Default Cleaning Micro Fiber Towels

Got a question for the detail experts. I have invested a small fortune in MF towels and am needing to find out the best way to clean them. I have been careful to only use certain towels for certain jobs. Some for drying, some for the detail spray after drying. A couple I use to do up the windows and then a couple for wax removal/buffing. How do you go about washing them. I am afraid to wash everything together as I feel the wax will contaminate the window and drying towels then all I end up with is a huge mess. Any help or ideas would be great. If I wash them in the washing machine will it make a mess in the washer. I'd rather spend the time doing it by hand to avoid all that. A particular type of soap?
Thanks Jeff.

Hi Jeff, firstly let me say I am no expert, but here's my regime.
As you do, I use different towels for the wheels, bodywork, windows, waxing / polishing etc....It may be a good idea to colour code the towels to help minimise possible confusion.
I have attached a link for some towels I got off Ebay at a very reasonable price, check it out and see.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=190248965167

They are good quality and come in different colours as well.

As for washing / cleaning them? I myself, tend to wash the different towels seperately first by hand with some washing up liquuid to get the worst off and then into the machine to finish them off.
I love em and wouldn't be without them now

Ooops sorry George ..typo.
I meant washing up liquid.....for washing dishes, I find Fairy the best. Simple n cheap and very very effective, followed by a stint in the washing machine with detergent at 40 degrees............job done for me

Jim, Thanks, I should have mentioned that I do use different types, and colors to keep things sorted out. So you think you get good results from liquid dish soap? I'll give it a go, and see for myself. In using your method have you noticed any residual soap/streaking when drying off? And like yourself the results I have obtained from the MF's is fantastic. And when it comes to taking off the wax then buffing to a hi-gloss shine, the MF's work better than anything I've tried previously. Maybe I'll get around to posting some pic's of the XJ8L after the detail job I just gave it.

Hi Jeff, gotta say that it works for me, but each to their own.
The fairy Liquid I use initially cos its designed to remove grease etc when used with warm / hot water......that process followed by a quick session in the washing machine at a regular wash and then allowed to dry naturally, possibly with a short period in the tumble dryer to fluff it back up has served me well. Gotta say I love MF too...sooo much better than the old chamois leather I used to use some time ago.
Love to see pics of your car when yolu get round to it Jeff.....post em up and lets see your handiwork

All the best

I just throw 'em in the washing machine separately. Use Tide or Wisk but nothing with any fabric softener or heavy perfumes. Tumble dry on low heat, if any. The quality towels will hold up for quite a while.
