New lease on life for this So Cal 07 C6...2007 C6 transformed from "Beast 2 Beauty"
How many of you have seen this before, maybe on your own vehicle.....failed PPF film. This job was installed in early 2007 and the film completely lacked maintenance therefore resulting in failure. Had this film been cared for and or maintained.....it could still be looking good today.
On a positive note, under this film was an almost perfect paint finish....so to say the film failed when it actually protected the paint.
Here is a recent project, a 2007 C6 Blk/Blk that I transformed from "Beast 2 Beauty"......She was in a world of neglect, from a failed invisible bra to extensive fine hairline scratches and contaminants bonded on the surfaces. There was wax built up in every crack, seal and the vehicle was caked in bugs as well.
Before photos showing the condition of this Vette

Up close showing failed PPF

Overall paint condition shown in photo

Then the tedious task of removing the entire failed invisible bra that had been on the vehicle for 4.5 years.....but underneath the film unvailed some very mint condition paint as seen in this lifted corner.

So we started with the easiest first, the lenses...

Side view mirrors get some light heating to assist in the removal of the PPF

Some of the areas the film came up nice and easy....

Other areas the film left the adhesive residue in heavy blotches

Then the process of removing all the left over adhesive residue.

Then for a very thorough clean, wash and inspection

Time for some wheel attention using some Adams Metal Polish

My wife tended to the interior

Before engine bay shot

After engine bay shot

Some final shots after the PPF removal and paint correction detail

I must say that after this was job was completed, the owner had a vehicle that was like new and not one rock chip on any of the areas that previously had PPF...and the rest of the vehicle polished out flawlessly to match!
