What you have done is perfect, just make sure they are air dried so they do not rot or get fouled. Before storing them in a ziplock, I recommend putting some hole punches in the bag so they can breath. I usually then store them in my Dewalt bag which I keep one for polishers and one for pads!

One thing to add, I let mine dry before cleaning them up (hey, it was a late night on my first detail) Anyway, a couple days later, the product cutting compound I used had dried on my pad, and it took much brushing under warm water to get most (I can't get it all!) off the pad. Next time, I'll take the 15 minutes to do the cleanup before calling it a day, er night.
