Hello,

I am new to the forum - purchased my VDP yesterday!

What products should I use to wash and wax the car?

Many thanks,

Cornel,

I'm new too, but a long time Corvette owner. Visit the Corvette Forum and the polish of choice is ZAINO. Just google it.

Here's my 07 Z06 that was last detailed last Oct and driven all winter

Forgive the slight blurriness as I took this on my cell phone. But you should get the point.

ZAINO is easy to use and lasts a very long time.

Cheers

The detailers we have as members have their own preferred products, and I try to pay attention to them when they do plug a cleaner, variety of compounds, polish, or wax. As such, I've taken to Meguiar's gold for the soap, their clay bar and buffing compounds, and then use Zaino's polish and synthetic sealer as the final steps. Though I don't do the full range of treatments every time. The list above is usually a once a year deal, usually springtime. Normally, car just gets a bath with the soap and rinse. Spot treatments for bird poo (no bee poo in our area) and road tar is usually taken care of with the Meguiars paint cleaner.

Our shop uses Dr. Beasley's for our detailing products. Their car wash soap gives a much deeper shine than you'd expect, and it foams up very nicely. As far as waxing goes, I love their Ivory Carnauba, but the standard Carnauba's probably more cost effective if all you're looking for is quick protection.

I'd stay away from any dish wash soap (as this can run off, kill grass, and cause harmful consequences to the environment) to wash the car, and always use microfiber towels to dry the car in order to prevent minor swirling or scratching.

Be sure to let us know what you try out, whatever brand it may be!

Hello Cornel and welcome to Jaguarforums.com

Congrats on the purchase of your new VDP!!!! awesome choice!

I usually like to ask enthusiasts what their level of car care expertise is.....Just so that I can suggest products that are user friendly and affordable. There is nothing worse that gettings tons of suggestions, purchasing all these products and they end up on a shelf in your cabinet.

There is one product that comes to mind which was released at SEMA 2010 by Meguiar's.....

BRILLIANT SOLUTIONS NEW CAR KIT

Meguiar's® eliminates the guesswork by providing everything you need to keep your car looking new, except the bucket & water! Includes:
  • Wash – Our very best! Meguiar's® Ultimate Wash & Wax, ultra plush microfiber wash mitt & Water Magnet™ microfiber drying towel
  • Wax – Meguiar's® most advanced wax, Ultimate Liquid Wax with a soft foam applicator & Supreme Shine™ Microfiber Towel

I'm not going to comment on wax / polish, I will leave that to Dave at Innovative, but I will strongly recommend Poly's Clear-tech. For a car wash, I have never used anything as good as it.
