Default The Definitive Coolant Bleed Procedure

Hi Folks,

I hope you're all well.

I am looking for a line by line guide to bleeding the coolant system, there are bits here and bits there, people being smart and others not so.

Basically I had a water leak from the water pump to the engine, i replaced the lost coolant, about 3 liters. I used the bleed screen on the water pump to expel air from that side of the system but my temp gauge on the dashboard is now showing 1/4. Strangely if i turn off the car and turn it back on again the temp shows the true temp in the mid position but then the gauge drops back to a 1/4 within seconds.

Please give a line by line guide EG:

  1. remove filler cap
  2. turn on car
  3. turn on heater to full
  4. ........

Thanks Peeps

You may want to post your question in the tech section for the particular car model you've got. The procedure for an X-type is very different than for an S-type for instance.
