Default Steering wheel and trip counter memory loss

I have a problem with my 2006 s Type 2.7 diesel it's only done 46000mls and to look at has been well kept, I also have its service history and the garage is known to me as reputable.
When I switch off I get a pinging alarm and a msg that says apply foot and parking brake. When you do this the msg clears but the trip counter also zeros and the steering wheel drops to its lowest position.
It's happened twice in two days now, the first time it also cleared the radio code. Which I also had to reset!
Has anyone had a problem like this and if so what was the cause.
Would appreciate any help here as new to Jaguars.

Sounds like a power fault. Failing battery, bad connection, that kind of thing.

I've had a good look today and the battery appears to be the original factory fitted item. The difficulty in getting the battery strap bolts out to remove the battery also supports that it's been here a long time.
Bought a new one today, and just finished fitting and resetting all the brakes, windows, radio etc so I'll see how it goes from here. If I get a re occurance then I'll have to consider a bad connection.
If as I suspect the batt is original(with factory Jaguar sticker) it was ready for changing anyway, 9 years is excessive for a batt on any vehicle.
Thanks for the input it's appreciated.

Having changed the battery and left things alone to see if I get a re occurrence, I have so far had no issues at all. Everything now seems to stay set exactly as I've put it.
Excellent advice thanks again.
