Default xj tdvi

Can anyone help with a problem I sometimes have with my 2008 xj tdvi ??.....now & again I get smoke coming from the engine bay which smells like burning rubber !....no warning lights come on & temp is ok & appears to be coming from the back of the engine.....have taken it into a garage but can't diagnose it unless it occurs when there !

Has anyone come across a similar occurance ?....please help fellow jag owners.

Thanks,

Howybak ( uk )

it could be a number of things. dpf filter could be badly choked up or it could be a leak from the flexible gasket behind turbo, not an easy job as u have to take off exhaust manifold and attack it from under the car. could be pre heating system, some models have it to heat up the car quicker that is prone to leak. not sure if belt as u would hear it slipping?
