Default Water in passenger footwell

This is confusing me. Wondering if anyone here can give helpful advise.

Bought my 2018 Epace end of July ‘23 from a main dealer, with a 1 year warranty. In April 24 I had a problem with the horn and they took it in to repair. Told me the wiring loom for the horn was “in the wrong place” and the bulkhead had to be completely stripped to get to it to repair it. Then in June after heavy rain I noticed the passenger foot well was soaked. Wet vac’d 500mls from the carpet, but when driving I could also hear water sloshing around - sounding as if it was coming from the front passenger wing panel.

The main dealer took it back in again - told me they thought this was a manufacturers defect, that it was going to cost more than the car was worth to repair and it wasn’t covered on warranty. But they were going to write a report to Jaguar and see if Jaguar would cover the cost of repair.

I reported the problem beginning of July was booked in but then they cancelled twice, eventually they got car in and they’ve had it for 4 weeks, they have now said, they want me to pay £2500 for them to investigate to find out where the water has come from. I have asked them if it could be due to the previous work when they took apart the bulkhead?

Confusing - £2500 off me to pay for 10 hours of investigation work, when previously they told me they knew the cost to repair was more than the car was worth? And that it was a manufacturers fault?

Could a main dealer be scamming me?

Could them putting the bulkhead back together incorrectly have caused water ingress somewhere?

Any help would be appreciated.

This happened to me after windshield/windscreen replacement. There was a pool in the passenger footwell. Luckily I had floor liners.
Was your windshield/windscreen replaced recently by any chance? I took it back and they installed a new windshield/seal and the problem went away.
