Default sloshing water

Hi everyone,
I have a 2018 ftype coupe and recently noticed more condensation inside the car. Then, I started having serious issues. When I accelerate, there is often a sloshing sound and then a significant amount of water flows onto the driver's side floor. It resolves over time once it is parked but then happens again. I live in California and with the storms recently I had to drive a bit in the snow and wondering if I might have damaged or blocked a hose that drains any water buildup. I would be extremely appreciative if any of you could shed some light on this, especially since the car is no longer under warranty.
Thanks very much,
Nick

Have you checked the drain holes at the bottom of the door? - these are often covered by a rubber membrane to keep mud out, but I am not sure of this in the F-Type.
In any case, water does get into the doors themselves so if there is any blockage of the drain holes you definitely could get the symptom you describe.

Can you report what you find?

I get water in the back, but only under extraordinary conditions. Half an inch of rain? No problem. Four inches of rain in an afternoon? Problem. I think that severe downpours can overload the capacity of the drains around the hatch. I've never had water in the front floor area though. You'll really want to find out where that's coming in. Good luck!

Aircon drain blocked is more likely - I had that in a previous Nissan, when cornering my passenger got wet feet (RHD).

While the AC drains on the XK/XKR were a frequent cause of water being dumped into the car (but on the passenger side of LHD cars), I don’t think we have ever heard a complaint about AC drains in the F-Type, and certainly never on the driver’s side (again, LHD). My suspicion still focuses on clogged door drain holes…or could there be an issue in the scuttle sealing in front of the driver? (Although I can’t picture that…).

Thanks so much to all of you for your replies. Since the water is only on the drivers side, I'm thinking the AC drain is less likely but please let me know if you differ.
I'm embarrassed to say that I have had difficulty finding the door drains and hoping one of you would give me some guidance.
Thanks very much,
Nick

Drains: open the door. Look along the bottom edge of the door from underneath ( meaning that you might have to lie on the ground). You will either see holes or slots along the bottom of the inner part of the door or rubber covers for those holes. If the latter, poke something up around the rubber (which will be simply a flexible piece) to make sure that water can drain out.

If there is no problem with these drain holes then the issue may be in the sealing around the windshield or the cowl in front of it.
please report.

Shouldn’t water in the door be easily identified. Just open and close the door quickly and it will be obvious if there is water in the door. If there is you can clear the drain holes. Super easy to take of the inner door lining to actually do a proper clean out. Having said that it would be unusual to have a lot of debris build up in that location without a faulty window seal

Having had plenty of water in the passenger compartment in other vehicles (XC90, XC60 - roof drain tubes shrink with age and start draining directly into dash, XF- rubber seal at cowl covers shrink and allow water to cascade into HVAC intake) I recommend you take the seats out and remove the carpet ASAP! You will be amazed at how much water can be contained in the floor pan. The "carpet" is an assembly of foam, MLV and carpet. It's the foam that you need to drain standing up against a tree and dry in the sun. Once the interior is naked and dry you can hose down the various suspected parts and see where the water is coming in.

Default update

HI everyone,
I just wanted to post an update that the issue was related to a small tube that directs outside water running off the front windshield to drain onto the ground. Apparently, this hose was missing and ended up being an easy repair!
Thanks for all of your advice!
Nick
