Default 16” vs 15” Steering Wheel….

I am used to squeezing under the steering wheel in my ‘64 356 SC but wonder if the 1” difference in the aftermarket steering wheels for the XKE make a difference in sliding into the seat? Because of the lowered floor it takes a contortionist. 😀

I have no personal experience, But I have been told that it makes it much easier to get in and out of the XKE. Now it may also increase the steering efforts slightly due to the smaller diameter.

Thanks Bob. No worries about steering effort. The power steering on my Type 2 can be turned with one finger. It’s amazing.

If you are considering buying a new steering wheel, it may be worth looking at the height of your seat cushion. Some owners have lowered the foam by taking a slice off the bottom. The steering column also has telescoping capabilities which may allow some additional movement.

Did you know that in addition to being able to adjust the steering wheel fore and aft you can also raise it up and down. There is a bolt under the steering column that can be loosened and allows the steering column height to be adjusted. I'd send you a picture but my car is getting final detailing.
