Which steering wheel is the best for F-Types ? The round steering or the flat bottom ?

A flat steering wheel will give a long-legged person about an inch more clearance when entering and exiting.

My car came with a round steering wheel but I always hankered after the flat-bottomed one.
After many years of dithering I finally bought a brand new flat bottomed one a few years ago and had it fitted.
Cost a pretty penny but I don't regret it for a second, it is soooooo much nicer.
Looks better, feels better, just is better in every way!

Mine also had a round one. It was very thin and won´t fit for such a kind of car.

I bought a used flat-one and let the dealer install it (Airbag-Issue).

The flat-bottomed is thicker and the car feels better (imho).

Best is subjective - I like my flat bottomed one as I think it's a bit "chunkier" than the round one. Some may prefer a thinner wheel, try them both if you can, and make your decision!

I like my flat bottom, first car I've had with it.

Default Driver dimensions matter

The F has a round wheel, the 2018 Corvette has a flat bottom. Either one works for me, but I'm only 5. 6 . A smart idea to always drive a car before purchase to make sure you can get in and out, as well as have a comfortable drive.

Flat-bottomed wheels make the world go round.

Correction: Flat-bottomed wheels make the *rockin'* world go 'round.

i ordered my car with the flat-bottomed wheel because I could, and thought it looked cool and maybe would make me cool too. Spoiler alert, it didn't.

It is pretty fat, and has bulges that kind of dictate where your hands should be. At least they put them so your hands should be where your hands should be, at least in my opinion. I like it. The leather-wrapped wheel in my Miata isn't bad either. It's round, thinner, and lacks those lovely little lumps. I like it too, and it fits the rest of the car. Even though I voted "flat-bottomed" I think the original premise of the poll is flawed.

In short, it's like Sport versus Performance seats. Look and feel for the owner is what matters. Your car should have what *you* want.

Flat hands down. It always struck me odd that the SVR version did not come with the flat-bottom wheel which, in my opinion, looks and feels “racier”.

I replaced my round steering wheel with a flat-bottomed one last summer, I like the feel better and although I'm not a large person, now it doesn't rub against my pants when exiting. I bought a used one on Ebay in excellent condition for $600, not recognizing that it had the dark trim common with the "R" interior. Mine was the silver color so I found another one with the proper trim. I had a body shop re-install the existing airbag into the wheel and all is good. BTW, I still have the extralflat bottomed wheel with the dark trim, so if anyone want it you can buy it for $450 including shippping in the continental U.S. . Just PM me.

Coming from a TT with flat bottom, I really wished at first the Jag had been spec'd with one but the round wheel grew up on me and it adds a classic touch to the car.

I can see the benefits of flat bottom but either is better than a yoke, lol.

I've had both round and flat-bottomed steering wheels. Either way is fine with this short and chubby ol' fellow.

Frank, I wouldn’t call you short, chubby or old.

At least, not to your face.

Merry Christmas! Hope to see you in the new year.

If you mean this kind of dark trim it's not an R thing but just part of the interior black pack. This is mine with the interior black pack. And flat bottom FTW btw.

Being tall, I prefer the flat bottom wheel over the round wheel.

I seem to remember reading a while back that the SVR was equipped with the round wheel for a specific reason - but I can't remember where I read it or what the specific reason was. Can anyone help out?

Maybe they didn't want to stock two types of wheel for what was a low production model?
