1972 4-speed power/torque rating?
Hello all!
My 72 XKE is running a 7-liter V12 that is dynoed at 460 bhp and 510 ft lbs of torque.
Will the 4-speed hold up or should I go with a 5-speed modern transmission?
Thanks much.

jww427,
If I was you I would call Paul at
MEDATRONICS 5SPEEDS
208 N. US HWY 1 - Unit 1
Tequesta, FL 33469
561-743-5600
Until part shortage prevented him from building 5 spd trans for E-type, he built the best 5 speed in the business, IMHO. He knows transmission like known else I know of.
Good Luck,
Bob

Agree with Bob_S.
In my 72 roadster I ended up putting a Supra turbo 5 speed in (good up to about 600 bhp). Company out of Sidney casts an aluminum bellhousing that mates this xmission with the Jag v12. Add in a Fidanza flywheel and you are good to go.
Let me know if you want any names
