Default ZF 6HP26 Transmission max torque

Anyone know what it might be?

I know the Bentley Supersports has the transmission and is pushing 590 ftlbs so it is capable, but I am sure that Bentley has altered the parts inside a bit. AVOS is pushing I think around 500ish hp to the ground (not sure on torque), so it appears these can handle some power, but I wanted to see if anyone had any definitive figures.

Believe ZF engineers guaranteed max 600Nm torque, it can do more but wil need more service.

The more imporant question is how much is it to beef up the weakest link?

Edit: 600nms is exactly 442.5372895662 ft/lbs

Maybe this will help!

Good info! Ok what worries me is that the STRs are right at the limit for the torque input. What parts would break if you exceed it?

They're not right at the limit are they? Max is something like 553 and it's not a flat tq curve!

It is 408ftlbs of torque output at 3500 rpms. 34ftlbs isn't much room.

at 3500 rpm it gives the most torque (original setup) but if you keep the same torque at higher rpm's the kitty will make you happier
maybe you like this calculator: http://www.wentec.com/unipower/calcu...wer_torque.asp

How would things like a smaller pulley, intake and exhaust increase the torque? Let alone a twinscrew

Faster airflow/ more air means more fuel injected, means better filled combustionchambers, means bigger bang, means more torque at every cycle of the engine.

You won't be at 3500rpm for long will you?

No but what I am thinking is that when you are modding the engine, you will exceed the torque input amount. Let's say that you increase the engine's torque by 10%. That right there is over the max amount specified by the engineers. I just don't want to have to replace a transmission

With your stable you are absolutely no stranger to maintenance. If you like occasional heavy g-forces, you could always go by a yard and pick up a spare 6HP, make friends with a good tranny guy and be prepared. Then go have fun!!

If you can get 10% more torque at the max torque point many people will be surprised not to say pleased. If momentarily exceeding the max torque of the trans at 3500rpm breaks the trans I'll be shocked but you have to accept that if you can do mods to that level then sooner or later something will break.

As I recall, avos mentioned that the 600hp car does break the trans from time to time. Comes with the territory...

Here's a wrinkle for ya!

2012 XKR-S
• A new addition to the XK model line, the XKR‐S sits atop the range as the fastest and most powerful series‐production Jaguar ever
• 550 horsepower
• 502 pound‐feet of torque
• 186 mph top speed
• 0‐60 mph in 4.2 seconds
• Low volume: approximately 100 per year for the US market
• Unique appearance with carbon fiber splitter and spoiler

I'll have to investigate this at some point, when I have time. Five hundred two pound feet.........that's 680 Nm! That's what you call a ponderable.

Cheers,

Going to be a debbie downer, but at the $138K price tag, you could find a new car as fast for $100K less...

True, there have always been cars much cheaper than Jag that go faster, but is that all Jag is about?

The XKR-S is the most extreme example yet, it's an upgrade (S model) to an upgrade (R model)...99.99% who see the thing won't know the difference between the R-S, a R and a regular model ($53K less)...At the track a car new from the factory can beat it that's $100K less...In my useless opinion (because I won't ever buy one) they should of make an entirely different car vs an upgrade to an upgrade...
