'61 e-type hood temperature
I have a 1961 E-type. The center of the motor hood gets very hot, 186 degrees F. It is hottest on the hump down the center of the hood. The paint has lifted. My mechanic said paint is able to stand up to 300 degrees, but 186 seems hot to me. I used a pyrometer and the engine is not running hotter than normal.
Is this normal? Why is the center the hottest?
Thanks.

Only a guess, but the center has no vents, and is higher than the surrounding area...Maybe the heat is collecting there...But, it is not normal, and someone has used the wrong paint, IMHO.
