My new to me 1970 has the wheels off so I cannot try this out. I have been placing the transmission in D2 just because the setting is closest to park. I read last night that D1 uses all three forward gears whereas D2 skips first and only uses second and third gears. According to the manual first gear is not necessary for normal driving. Do you use D1 or D2 for normal driving?
