Brake problem xke
I just bought and received a 1974 jag xke roadster v12--the emergency brake/brake fluid light remains on. The brake fluid is topped up. The car, supposedly had a frame off restoration 2 years and 200 miles ago at which time 4 new disc brakes were installed. Upon stopping after driving it about 5 miles , there was a grinding noise in the brakes. When i started to go again, the brakes were locked up. I took it to a mechanic. He said the emergency brake was ok. When he put it on the rack, neither of the 4 tires would rotate. After a few minutes, they released.
This also happened while i was driving i.e. The brakes strted to apply themselves and, eventually stopped the carr but not before creating some smoke from the pads/rotors. After about 3 minutes, all was ok
i would appreciate any ideas/ comments before i give the mechanic a "blank check"
thanks

Hi
Since your post the problem may have been resolved.
Your mechanic will go straight to the brake servo replacement, but I would suggest first to check the vacuum tank valve which usually causes problems and is cheap to replace.
I went through the same situation and brake servo replacement did not solve the problem.
