Default Cylinder head dimension

Hi all - I am restoring a series 3 that has had the engine swapped out for a later one with, I assume, the machined out head at the exhaust valves(Sort of part hemi) The engine high compression number 7P50617SB. I have been unable to find the specs for this motor. I assume that the head is not the standard flat-head dimension as I have fitted the 6 Weber downdraft conversion and now the bonnet does not close. It should as the conversion was designed for this. I can only assume the head is taller. Take a look at the pics and if anyone could give me comparative measurements I would appreciate it. As yet I still haven't been able to get the engine to run properly. I'm fitting smaller jets as the supplied ones ran far too rich. Another reason for thinking the head is different. If this is the case am I right that the static timing is to be set at 0 BTDC and not the normal 12 BTDC
All advice/Help appreciated
Eric
