E Type s3 for sale - I知 looking but have questions.
I looked at this S3 1974 yesterday. It looks like it has S2 seats. The seats didn稚 have any adjustment to them.
I suspect the original seats were replaced and bolted hard to rails rather than fixed to original spec.
Does anyone have any comments?
Am I correct that these seats are not S3 (they had a head rest)
Should s3 or S2 seats have adjustment (front - rear)?
They're not series 2 seats, and certainly series 2 seats had fore and aft adjustment as well as recline.
People do fit different seats to E's; mx 5 seats fit well, and give a bit more headroom. I'm not sure what series 3 seats are like, but it's possible a different manufacturers seat has been fitted.

Looks like 3.8 seats, judging from the illustrations on this Moss page:

Here are S3 seats:

Series 2 seats have adjusters for fore and aft movement, rake adjustment and also a 'curve' into the area just behind the seat back to allow for yet additional back movement.
Does the seller have the Jaguar Daimler trust certificate? this certificate will tell you what this car left the factory with... gearbox, etc.

Hagerty Buyer's guide:
Personally I don't know why 3.8 seats would have been put in this car. Most owners indicate that they were extremely uncomfortable.. no rake adjustment either. I would be suspect of other replacements in this car. Just because it's a Jaguar E type part doesn't mean that any E type part can go in just any E type. Production was a rolling process of updates, corrections, improvements, changes, etc. Do read up on them so you know what you are getting in to.
